"Improvement works best when it is truly owned by those closest to where health is created – by patients, service users and family members, and the staff that are delivering care."

Our Teams

We are your Improvement and Innovation Team

We are here to support the development of a culture that provides the right conditions to empower a community of thinkers and innovators who, by working together, can develop innovative solutions to improvement safety, quality of care, patient experience and staff wellbeing.

We are a small, and agile team skill in improvement science, change management and project management. We want to create a culture where everyone is enthused, inspired and confident to implement change that makes a positive difference to our patients, staff and communities we serve.

Empowering Healthcare through Digital Innovation

We harness cutting-edge digital technologies to create practical solutions for healthcare professionals, improve patient outcomes, and shape the future of NHS care delivery. From immersive training to AI-powered tools, we’re building tomorrow’s healthcare experience today.

We are an innovative digital technology lab embedded within Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. As one of the NHS’s pioneering digital innovation teams, we explore and implement cutting-edge technologies to enhance healthcare delivery, education, and patient care.

Communities of practice

NHS Impact

NHS IMPACT (Improving Patient Care Together) is the new, single, shared NHS improvement approach. By creating the right conditions for continuous improvement and high performance, systems and organisations can respond to today’s challenges, deliver better care for patients and give better outcomes for communities.

It was launched in April 2023 to support all NHS organisations, systems and providers at every level, to have the skills and techniques to deliver continuous improvement. It brings together five key components (see Figure 1) that when consistently used will support creating the right conditions for continuous improvement and high performance, in order to respond to the challenges the NHS faces and to deliver better care for patients and better outcomes for communities.

The driver diagram below shows the relationship between NHS IMPACT’s aims and the routes to achieving them.

NHS IMPACT is a single improvement approach to shaping strategy. It is underpinned by continuous improvement and encourages organisations, systems and providers to share best practice and learn from one another.

It will inform the way we work across services and create the conditions in which continuous improvement is the “go to” method for tackling clinical, operational and financial challenges.

If we… adopt quality improvement as the primary method for addressing challenges.

We will…create optimum conditions for continuous improvement and high performance.

So that…we can provide high quality health and care services that meet the evolving needs of our population.
